Chuck “Notorious” Uzzell
Chuck Uzzell is an angry old man. Has been for the last several decades. Chuck has played in various bands and is a true stylist singing and playing.
Chuck is also the youngest band mate in Bailout and is tasked with load in and load out duties. He replaced the bands’ founding guitar player who was sent to prison.
Drew Reger: aka Withdrew.
Born from the hellfire’s of Motown and raised in the swamps of Jersey where he played, sang, wrote and recorded hits like “place your bet” and whippin’ pedestal. Drew draws inspiration from a vast array of classic rock and blues musical influences, and after moving to North Carolina in 1998, he said “what the heck am I supposed to do now?” His prayers were answered, and he was plucked from the streets of Ocean Isle Beach by his new bandmates Barefoot Gary Pope and PuRay Harris. Whom he forever credits with saving his life from certain destruction without music. Ever since that day “Withdrew” has been with close friends Ray and Gary and when Chuck joined in Bailout was born. The rest is history and possibly self-incriminating, so its best to leave it at that…
Gary Otis Pope AKA “Nashville”
Except for a short stint as “the King of the Nashville Blues”, Gary has been playing with a couple of these cats for 25 years now!
They’ve written numerous songs together and performed from Virginia to South Carolina and all points in between.
“The Beatles made me want to play guitar, The Stones made me wanna rock“
Ray “PuRay” Harris
Ray is the drummer in the band. He’s also the guy “bailing out” of a humongous wave on the cover of Bailout’s first album!
A true son of the South, Ray hails from Florence, South Carolina where his momma found him in a reed basket along the swamps of the Black River.
Miami Jim Barbee
Jim- infectiously named “Miami” by the Bailout Band, has been in music his entire life. Growing up in church and school choirs, taking music classes, to building bands in the early 70’s. He’s played venues across NC with multiple bands and as a guest of multiple bands.
An accident prohibited him from continuing with Sax, Piano, and guitar at an early age, so he chose the Harmonica, self-taught, and never looked back.
With harmonies and leads he has expanded his vocal abilities over the years. Yes, while loving the Rocking Blues, don’t put him in a blues box entirely. He prides himself with being able to join in with almost whatever genre of music is going on.
Never stop creating, imagining, and growing as a musician. You’ll see this range of exciting music once you have experienced the Bailout set list.
